Terms of Service

Last updated 10 October 2026.

These terms govern your use of the Check Take Home Pay API, website and dashboard ("the Service"), operated by Sharp Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15591412 ("we", "us"). By creating an account or sending requests to the Service you accept these terms.

1. The Service

The Service calculates UK pay and employment figures (take-home pay, employer costs, payroll periods, statutory payments, contractor tax) from the inputs you send, following HMRC's published rules and rates. It is not tax, legal or financial advice. We are not affiliated with HMRC or gov.uk.

2. Accuracy

We test the calculations against HMRC's own test data and cases worked from gov.uk's rules, and we fix any error we find promptly. Each response states the assumptions it makes; checking that they fit your case is yours to do. Figures depend on the inputs you send and the tax year's rules as published.

3. Your account and keys

Keep your API keys confidential. We treat any request made with your key as made by you. Revoke a key you think is compromised from your dashboard.

4. Acceptable use

  • Don't try to get round the rate limits or your plan's allowance.
  • Don't resell the raw API as your own API.
  • Don't send personal details the calculations don't need, such as names.

5. Fees and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe, with calculations past a plan's allowance billed in arrears on the same invoice, at the prices on the pricing page. If a payment fails, keyed calls return HTTP 402 until it succeeds.

6. Availability

We aim for high availability but give no contractual service level on the Free, Pro or Scale plans. Enterprise customers can agree one separately.

7. Ending

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account for a serious breach of these terms, with reasonable notice.

8. Liability

As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

9. Changes

We may update these terms, giving at least 30 days' notice by email of any material change. Using the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions: [email protected].
